How to Know If You've Got Rats
Rat activity needs a fast response, but it also needs proper diagnosis. The real issue is rarely just the rat you saw. It is the route, the nesting point and the reason the activity took hold in the first place.
- Droppings - Dark, pellet-shaped, and around 10-14mm long.
- Gnaw marks - On packaging, cables, pipework or skirting boards.
- Smell - A strong ammonia-like odour from urine marking.
- Noises - Scratching or scurrying, especially at night.
- Smudge marks - Greasy streaks on floorboards, walls and pipe runs.
- Sightings - Seeing a live rat often means an active infestation is already established.
