Service
Rat Control
The Problem
- Scratching in walls at night for around two weeks.
- Droppings found in the kitchen.
- Shop-bought poison had not stopped the activity.
- A family with young children were stressed and losing sleep.
What I Found
- Main entry point was a gap around an old gas pipe, roughly the size of a 10p coin.
- Evidence of a run behind the kitchen units.
- Droppings suggested two to three rats active. Not a major infestation yet, but growing.
What I Did
- Proofed the entry point with wire wool and cement.
- Set controlled bait stations in the loft and behind kitchen units.
- Checked neighbouring yards and found a likely source in an overgrown area next door.
- Advised the customer on speaking to the neighbour before the issue spread further.
Timeline
Day 1
Inspection, proofing and baiting.
Day 5
Check visit, bait taken and stations reset.
Day 10
Final check with no further signs of activity.
Outcome
- No further activity reported after the final check.
- The entry route was closed rather than just treated around.
- Total job time was around 2.5 hours across three visits.
Evidence Recorded
- Entry point before and after proofing.
- Droppings behind the cooker.
- Bait station placement.
